U20s Newcastle Jets continue their fairytale run against Hawkesbury City

The U20s Newcastle Jets pulled off one of the greatest come backs of the season after being 3-0 down and with a player short from the first half against Hawkesbury City in Round 15 of the FNSW League Two Men’s competition!

Played in cold and wet conditions at the LMRFF on Sunday night the match began at an incredible pace. The Hawkesbury team rose to the occasion against the league leaders and threw everything at the Newcastle Jets from the opening whistle.

Within the first 20 minutes they found themselves leading 2-0 and just before half time fortune was on their side when a Newcastle defender was given his marching orders by the referee. Just after the break, a third goal by the visitors had them favorites to collect the 3 points for the fourth time of the season.

Playing with only three defenders since the send-off, the Newcastle team then set to work and with a few minutes before the final whistle, were able to score an incredible four goals for a final score line of 4-3 in favor of the Jets!

The spectators who braved the conditions were treated to an incredible game of football in which one team did everything to be withing reach of a great win, and another which refused to surrender and were rewarded for their belief in the end.
