Newcastle Olympic take on Maitland FC in the 2026 Northern NSW Men’s Reserve Grade Grand Final! The match is scheduled to kick off at 11am on Sunday 13th September at Darling St Oval.
During the season Olympic defeated Maitland 3-1 on the 23rd March at Darling St Oval and 2-0 at Cook Square Park on the 21st June 2026! On the points tale, Olympic finished 2nd on 47 points with 15 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses from 22 games. Maitland FC finished 5th on 34 points with 10 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses from 22 games. Olympic scored 54 goals and conceded 20 while Maitland scored 47 and conceded 30! Based on these statistics Newcastle Olympic are favourites but sometimes favourites don’t always win.

On the road to the final Olympic eliminated Cooks Hill United 3-2 and Valentine 9-8 on penalties after playing out a 0-0 draw. Maitland on the other hand destroyed Broadmeadow magic 5-0, Cooks Hill Utd 4-2 and Valentine Phoenix FC 3-2. Based on their performance in the play-offs for the Grand Finals Maitland appear to be going from strength to strength.
Both teams are strong and the winner will be the team who can adapt to the conditions of the game quicker. Maitland can score goals when the opposition drop their guard while Olympic are very strong and compact in defence. Olympic have no problem keeping the score at 0-0 while grinding down their opponents until the final 20 minutes and then sting them before closing shop again.

Maitland will have both their men’s teams on parade at Darling St Oval on Sunday. Will they be hoping to collect the double starting with a Grand Final win in Reserve Grade or will the home ground advantage enable Olympic to bring some glory to the club after a very disappointing year by First Grade?
