Newcastle Olympic Men’s Reserve Grade have a bye this weekend as they await to learn their opponent for the 2026 Northern NSW NPL Grand Final.
Minor Premiers Valentine Phoenix FC take on Maitland FC on Sunday 6th September at Magic Park. Both teams will be doing their best to win and join Olympic in the Grand Final which will be held at Darling St Oval on Sunday 13th September 2026! During the 2026 regular season fixtures Valentine and Maitland played out a 1-1 draw on March 14th, 2026 before Maitland secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Valentine on June 13th, 2026.
During the week Olympic trained hard and even extended their training to Saturday to make up for the bye weekend. Whilst having a one-week break is a good thing for players carrying small injuries, it doesn’t help the momentum of the team who are used to playing every weekend.
Despite this, playing at Darling St Oval in front of their supporters is a huge motivation for them wanting to win the Grand Final regardless of the opponent.
