U18s Newcastle Jets prove too strong for Rydalmere Lions FC

Jets vs Rydalmere

U18s Newcastle Jets finished their pre-Christmas pre-season training with a trial match in Sydney on Sunday afternoon during which they proved too strong for Rydalmere Lions FC. The game was played in very cold and windy conditions and the Jets succeeded in leading 2-0 at the break.

In the second half Rydalmere pulled one goal back but the Jets were able to score a third and put the game beyond reach. It wasn’t a great game to watch but the players from both teams put minutes under their belts in preparation for the 2023 season.

Training for the U18s Newcastle Jets will resume on 16th January 2023.

Following this match, the U18s will play their final trial game on Tuesday night at Speers Point before their Christmas break until the 16th January 2023!

U18s Newcastle Jets held to a 1-1 draw by Sydney Olympic

Jets vs Olympic

U18s Newcastle Jets were held to a 1-1 draw by Sydney Olympic at Ray Watt Oval, University of Newcastle, on Sunday afternoon!

In sunny and hot conditions Sydney Olympic began proceedings with a goal from a penalty which the Jets conceded after an Olympic player was brought down inside the box, in an off the ball incident! The Jets came close moments later with a shot that came off the woodwork after a well worked move from the left. By half-way through the first half the Jets were level with a well taken shot from a well worked counter-attack from the right.

At half time the teams were locked at 1-1 and the players of both teams looked forward to the break to re-hydrate from the very hot conditions. Territorially the Jets dominated possession but could not create enough goal scoring opportunities.

The second half belonged to the Jets even more than in the first half but again, they could not find the back of the net! Despite this, the team looked a lot fitter and sharper than during previous games and this is probably more important at this early stage of the pre-season than any result or score line.

U18s Newcastle Jets defeat Weston Bears 3-0 in pre-season trial

WESTON vs JETS

U18s Newcastle Jets proved too strong for the Weston Bears at a pre-season trial match played at Rockwell Automation Park on Sunday afternoon.

In warm and humid conditions the Jets team dominated possession from start to finish. They lead 1-0 at half time and added a further two goals in the second half. A number of players from the u18s squad were “playing up” while a number of players from other age groups were included in the team.

This was a good hit out for the players of both teams to gain valuable minutes in their respective pre-season programs. Next week Newcastle Jets entertain Sydney Olympic.

U18s Newcastle Jets take on Weston Bears in their second trial game of the 2023 pre-season

George Tsamouras Jets vs St George

After playing Central Coast Mariners approximately a fortnight ago in Gosford, the U18s Newcastle Jets take on Weston Bears at Rockwell Automation Park on Sunday, in their second trial game of the 2023 pre-season.

As was the case with CCM there are numerous players from the u18s squad “playing up” as well as younger players from U16s joining the team. The results and scores from these games are not as important as players getting game time and improving their fitness.
