U16s Newcastle Jets secured their 10th win in 10 matches at LMRFF on Sunday afternoon against Mounties Wanderers. Given that there are a total of 30 games played, this marks the completion of 1/3 of the competition on maximum points! The U16s Newcastle Jets are also the only team in all age groups to have reached this stage on maximum points! During these 10 matches they have scored 31 goals and conceded just 2!
The Newcastle team opened proceedings early with a thunderous shot from outside the box after the Mounties goalkeeper saved a shot from close range. The Jets came close to scoring a second when another thunderbolt from outside the area rattled the Mounties woodwork. After a well taken corner was deflected by the Mounties defense a cross which ensued brought about the second goal within the first 10 minutes. Just before half time a well executed free kick was deflected by the Mounties defense, only to send the ball to an oncoming Jets forward who made the score line 3-0.
Jets’ domination continued in the 2nd half as well resulting in two further goals. The first came from a well taken header following a corner kick. The second goal was from another thunderbolt from outside the 18 yard box after a well worked move.
