U16s Newcastle Jets secured 3rd spot at the Boys 2006 TSP Tournament at Valentine Park, Sydney on Wednesday 20th April. Sydney FC and Capital Football were equal 1st while Newcastle Jets squeezed out Central Coast Mariners for 3rd spot in the tournament. In all, 11 teams from NSW took part in the tournament.

U16s Newcastle Jets travel to Sydney’s Valentine Park on Wednesday 20th April to participate in a TSP Tournament involving two other A-League Academies, Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners as well as TSP teams from around the state, including NNSW Football.
In round 1 of the tournament each team will play 5 matches of 25 minute duration with no half time and only one substitution opportunity per team, per game.

Round 2 will involve two 20 minute halves with a 5 minute half time and opposition will be based on the points accumulated from Round 1 and position on the table.

U16s Newcastle Jets has made it 9 wins from 9 games in a tough game away to Northbridge Bulls FC. Conceding only their 2nd goal of the season, the Newcastle team found themselves unable to break down their opponent and going into half time 1-0 down. This was in part due to the strength of the opponent and secondly, due to the Newcastle players having an off day.
In the 2nd half they were able to equalize early and take the lead 2-1. Despite being the better team in the second half they were unable to put away a 3rd goal that would have ended the contest. As a result, spectators were treated to a nail biting ending!
In other games U18s Jets suffered their 2nd defeat of the season by 2-0. This was due to the quality of the opponent but also due to the unavailability of many of their players. U15s were involved in a tough game but ran out victors 3-1. U14s were narrowly defeated 1-0 but U13s easily overran their opponents by 4-1.
Round 9: Northbridge Bulls FC vs Newcastle Jets at Northbridge Oval Main:
U16s Newcastle Jets will travel to Northbridge Bulls FC to complete Round 9 of the 2022 season and will be chasing their 9th consecutive win in as many games!
With just over ¼ of the season played, and sitting on maximum points, there is no doubt that the U16s Newcastle Jets are amongst the favourites to finish top of the table. The question that remains between now and the end of the season is if they can maintain the high standards they have set for themselves until the end! The Jets are obviously favourites to take the 3 points sitting in 1st place on 24 points, while Northbridge are in 5th spot with 12 points from 4 wins and 4 losses.
U18s Newcastle Jets are in a similar position as they too are in 1st place on the table with 19 points compared to 7th placed Northbridge on 10 points! On paper they look favourites for the 3 points of this match.
U15s Newcastle Jets are only 1 point behind 1st spot and will be eager as their other two counter-parts to collect the 3 points from Northbridge who sit in 6th place on 10 points.
U14s Newcastle Jets are in 7th place having won 3, lost 3 and had 2 games end in draws. They will have their work cut out for them against Northbridge who are in 4th spot 3 points above them.
Finally U13s Newcastle Jets look like favourites to collect the 3 points sitting 1 point behind the league leaders and 9 points behind 8th placed Northbridge!
On the Club Championship Table, Newcastle Jets are in 1st place and favourites to stay their 9 points ahead of their nearest rival.
Northbridge Bulls FC vs Newcastle Jets vs on Saturday 16th April at Northbridge Oval Main.
U16s Newcastle Jets have made it eight wins from eight starts this season, scoring 24 goals and conceding just the 1. The latest opponent to taste defeat was neighboring Central Coast United who lost by 4-0.
Central Coast set their team up with one player up front and everyone else behind the ball and inside their own half. The Jets peppered the Central Coast goal and their opponents just kept trying to keep them out. Eventually the Jets opened their account shortly before half time with a well taken cross from the right and stunning volley.
Within the first 5 minutes of the second half a cross from a free kick was misjudged by the Central Coast goal keeper and 2-0 was the result. Four minutes later the Jets increased the score to 3-0 and put the result beyond any doubt. Fifteen minutes from the end, a fourth goal was scored by the Jets in a well worked move which opened up the Central Coast defense. Another routine win, the eighth successive of the season.
Round 8: Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast United at Speers Point:
U16s Newcastle Jets welcome Central Coast United in the Round 8 of the competition at Speers Point on Sunday. After recording their highest away win last week against St. George in Sydney, 5-0,the Jets will be looking to inflicting more damage this Sunday in front of their home supporters.
The Jets are on maximum points having won 7 matches from the opening 7 games and naturally occupy 1st spot on the U16s points table. They have scored 20 goals and only conceded 1. Central Coast United have only played 4 games having won 1 and lost 3, have only scored 3 goals and sit in equal last spot! On paper, they have a lot of work to do to stop the Jets from recording their 8th consecutive win!
U18s Jets will also be looking to extend their lead on the points table when they meet bottom placed Central Coast United. The Jets boast 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss to CCU’s 1 win and 3 losses. Like the U16s team, they look too strong on paper for the team from Gosford.
U15s Jets dropped to 2nd spot on the ladder after their last minute 1-0 loss to St George last week in Sydney and will be looking to correct matters against 6th placed CCU. Despite this, it could turn out to be a very evenly balanced match as CCU have won 3 of their 4 matches played and only lost one.
U14s Jets have dropped to 6th place on the ladder after their 3rd loss of the season last week and will be looking to collect 3 points against a Central Coast United team who have lost all four games they have played so far, scored just 1 goal, and occupy the bottom spot on the points table..
Finally, U13s Jets who are 3rd on the points table will be relying on their very strong attack, 36 goals scored to date, to defeat 12th placed Central Coast United. On paper it looks like an “easy” game but as in the case of the u15s fixture, great care should be taken to avoid surprises.
The 1st place of the Newcastle Jets on the Club Champions Table has remained the same despite only winning two matches last week.

Two youngsters from the Newcastle Jets Academy will join 26 other talented players from across the country in Townsville this month for the Under 16 National Talent Identification Camp for boys.
Angus Muddle, 16, and Janni Rafty, 15, will both attend the elite camp from April 11-15, where they will train at the North Queensland Cowboys’ newly opened Community, Training and High Performance Centre with its elite multi-sport training spaces, sports medicine and sports science laboratories. They will be pushing to grab a permanent spot in the Australia U17s team.
Fellow Jets player Kai Herd is also on the national team radar and will be on standby for the Camp as a reserve.
The youngsters have impressed recently with Rafty recently promoted to the Jets Youth side playing in Football NSW’s League Three First Grade, while Muddle also was promoted to the Jets U20s team.
The players will be joined by Australian U17s Head Coach Trevor Morgan as well as former Socceroos Luke Wilkshire and Mark Milligan, and will play 11v11 matches internally, and against a ‘select’ team at 1300SMILES Active Park which will be streamed by Football Australia.
Newcastle Jets Youth Head Coach Daniel McBreen was extremely pleased about the players’ selections.
“This is a great opportunity for these boys to experience training at an elite level in a national team environment,” McBreen said.
“Their selection in this camp is a reward for all their hard work and top performances they’ve produced – performances that have also seen them promoted recently through the ranks of the Jets Academy.
“I’m sure both will take a great deal from this opportunity and bring that level of training quality back to their respective teams and amongst their teammates.
“As a Club, we’re proud of their achievement and being able to progress promising youngsters to their potential, and we hope to see more players step up to that level.”

U16s Newcastle Jets chalked up their 7th consecutive victory of the 2022 season with an emphatic 5-0 away win over a hapless St George City team.
In cool but fine weather conditions the Newcastle team began the match with very little space to play as St George set up 4-5-1 formation. Newcastle’s defensive third was unchallenged but beyond that there were bodies everywhere. The Jets attempted to probe the St George goal with balls over the top and through the flanks but without much success. The effect of this tactic by the St George team was to create a slow tempo game with few goal mouth incidents. The deadlock was broken just before half time from a Jets corner and a scrapy goal mouth incident which resulted in the ball finding it’s way at the back of the St George net.
With a goal down the St George team abandoned their 4-5-1 formation in the 2nd half and the game came to life. There were more goal mouth incidents in the first five minutes than there had been for the entire first half. The Jets finding space to build increased the tempo of the game and in the 6th minute of the 2nd half increased their lead to 2-0 with a nice solo run through the middle, a cross from the right and a well drilled shot into the net which the Sydney goal keeper couldn’t keep out.
The Jets continued to pile on the pressure and created one chance after another. During one such occasion the St George defence fouled an opponent inside the box and the converted penalty put the game beyond reach at 3-0. Another goal was scored with a header after the St George defence were unable to clear a corner. The final 5-0 score line came after another poorly cleared corner and a half volley from outside the box which was assisted even further by another Jets player that ensured the Sydney goal-keeper had no chance!
This win for the U16s Newcastle Jets is their 7th consecutive victory in as many matches and needless to say, they are 1st on the points table, 6 points ahead of Hills United.
Next week they welcome to the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility Central Coast United.
Round 7: St George City FA vs Newcastle Jets on Saturday 2nd April at Penhurst Park.
After beating last season’s Premiers Nepean FC, U16s Newcastle Jets are away to St George City in Round 7 of the FNSW Boy’s Youth League2.
Sitting in 1st place on the ladder, 6 points ahead of their nearest rival, U16s Newcastle Jets face 8th placed St George City who are 9 points behind. Despite the contest looking easy on paper, the Jets will need to focus on their job to come away with the 3 points and their 7th consecutive win!
In other age groups U18s are also in 1st spot and face a St George City team in 3rd place, only 2 points behind the Jets.
U15s are also in 1st spot, just 2 points in front of 2nd placed St George City and this promises to be a very tight game.
U14s are in 4th spot, just 3 points behind the league leaders while u13s are 2nd with only 1 point behind.
In the all important Club Championship table the Newcastle Jets are in 1st place 11 points ahead of second placed St George City! Good results over the weekend will ensure that this lead is extended as we edge closer to promotion to FNSW Boy’s Youth League1.

U16s Newcastle Jets recorded an emphatic win over last year’s Premiership winning team in the battle between 1st verses 2nd of the 2022 FNSW Boy’s Youth League2.
Playing in wet and slippery conditions at LMRFF Speers Point both teams took the field having won every match of the season and with the Newcastle Jets sitting in 1st position on the table and Nepean FC in 2nd due to having played one game less.
It was a battle between two very strong teams and the early exchanges between the two sides certainly lived up to the billing. Before spectators could warm their seats Nepean broke from the right, hands were raised for a possible off-side, the flag stayed down, a beautiful cross across the face of the goal and a simple tap-in ensured a 1-0 lead for the visiting team! This was the first goal to be conceded by the Jets in the 2022 season!
Before the dust could settle, a poor clearance by the Nepean goal-keeper resulted in the Jets moving the ball from one side of the field to the next and the ensuing cross was met by a defender who in his attempt to clear, headed it into the Nepean net!
No sooner had the celebrations subsided the Jets broke through the right flank again and with a low lying cross and a simple tap-in on the far post, 2-1!
Locked at 2-1, the arm wrestle between the two sides continued with goal mouth action at both ends until the end of the half. The closest to another goal came from a Nepean cross and a diving header which re-bounded off the Jet’s woodwork!
With the re-start of action in the second half a poorly defended corner by Nepean resulted in a diving header and a 3-1 score line for the Jets!
From this point the goal mouth action was mainly at the Nepean end of the field. During one corner, which was played short, a low-lying drive from outside the box left the Nepean goal-keeper motionless, perhaps he was unsighted, and 4-1 for the Jets was now reality!
The game was over as a contest and in the remaining time the Newcastle Jets continued to pepper the Nepean goal until the final whistle.
A great football match by two teams who deserve to be congratulated for their effort.
