U18s Newcastle Jets crash out to Hills United 3-1, but U20s Newcastle Jets crush Bankstown 7-1

10-2-3

An U18s Newcastle Jets team featuring half of the U18s training squad and players from the U20s and Youth training squads crashed out 3-1 to Hills United! The U20s Newcastle Jets, featuring five u18s in their squad, crushed Bankstown 7-1!

The u16s Grand Final losers from the 2022 season, Hills United, exacted revenge on an U18s Jets team not in short supply of talented players on Sunday afternoon and returned to Sydney with 3 points! Despite the array of talent on the field, the Newcastle team were not able to play the free flowing football that won them the Grand Final a few months ago and were beaten by 3-1.

The U20s Newcastle Jets took on Bankstown United in a quick and entertaining game on Sunday night at the LMRFF. Both teams played free flowing attacking football with action at both ends of the field. The Jets were able to take the lead in 6’ through Christian Bracco only to concede an equaliser in the 10” by the Sydney visitors. Another goal in the 18’ by Christian Bracco and another in the 34’ by Jayden Ashbourne found the Newcastle team leading 3-1 at the break.

The second half continued to be free flowing attacking football by both teams. Mid way through the second half both teams began to tire and many silly free kicks were being conceded by both teams. At the 70’ the Newcastle Jets bench introduced the first of the five u18s, George Tsamouras, in midfield. Good combination play by the Newcastle players enabled Christian Bracco to add a 4th goal and a personal hat trick for the night!

Seth Anderson and Jordan Gu were added in attack and in midfield and the momentum of the Newcastle team continued strong with a 5th goal scored by Cale Graham! Kynan Watkins and Kruze Davidson were added to the game and within minutes the score turned into a 7-1 triumph from goals scored by Seth Anderson and Kynan Watkins!

A great night of entertaining football, a good win for the U20s team and a great effort by the five U18s training squad members.
