NPL Youth: U15s Newcastle Olympic are away to Valentine FC

George vs Valo

After a busy week for our Youth NPL teams all four age groups are away to Valentine FC on Saturday. U13s and U16s played midweek catch up games against Lambton Jaffas while half the U14s and U15s squads were involved in matches in Sydney with the Northern NSW rep squads.

Newcastle Olympic teams will be favourites to win on Saturday but such games usually come with surprises. U13s have only one win from four games and will look to make amends this week. U14s sit on equal 1st spot on the points table and will want to ensure they remain there after Saturday. U15s are also 1st with 4 wins from 4 matches and will be looking to continuing their winning run. Finally, U16s are fresh from clipping the wings of league leaders by 4-1 and will be hoping to climb from 2nd to 1st spot after Saturday.

The best of luck for an injury free and a great game of football to the players of both teams.

NPL Youth: U15s overcome Maitland Magpies to make it 4 wins from 4 games

Olympic pic

Playing their 2nd match in 5 days, U15s Newcastle Olympic had no problem collecting another 3 points that brings them to equal first spot on the points table.

In a tough game played under windy and cold conditions at Cooks Square Park the boys in blue had to work hard against a tough opponent who was not prepared to lay down their arms easily. Despite this they were able to take some of the many chances created and lead 3-0 at half time.

The second half proved as tough as the first half with both teams battling for every ball. Olympic took a 4-0 lead but the Maitland players didn’t drop their heads and continued to compete for every ball. They were rewarded in the end by a long-range consolation goal which brought the final score to 4-1.

Not a pretty game but another 3 points which brings the U15s on equal first spot on the points table.

NPL Youth: U15s Newcastle Olympic take on the Maitland Magpies

George Tsamouras vs Maitland

After their great display midweek against Lambton Jaffas the U15s Newcastle Olympic juggernaut continues on Sunday at Cooks Square Park against the Maitland Magpies.

Cooks Square Park has been a happy hunting ground for the boys in blue over the past two seasons, having conceded just 1 goal and scoring 24!

Each season is different however and Maitland’s narrow 2-1 loss to Charlestown Azzuri would indicate that we should be in for a competitive game on Sunday. The best of luck for a great game of football to the players of both teams.

NPL Youth: Newcastle Olympic far too strong for Lambton Jaffas

29

U15s Newcastle Olympic took on Lambton Jaffas on Wednesday night at Darling St Oval as part of the Round 2 washed out fixture and recorded a 12-1 win!

The game began at a frantic pace with both teams looking to score. Olympic opened proceedings through a penalty only for Jaffas to equalise shortly after, due to a lapse in concentration by the blue’s defence. Olympic then carved up chances, hit the woodwork several times and ended the half 4-1 in front.

The second half began with goals almost from kick off with Olympic showing they were not going to sit on the score. They peppered the Jaffas goal, hitting the woodwork several times and scoring some great beautifully worked team and individual goals.

The smile for the coaching staff of Olympic was not the win or the score line but the work rate of the team from beginning to end. Every Olympic player showed hunger and played with the same intensity from beginning to end.

Earlier in the night U14s defeated Lambton Jaffas by 5-1 after leading 5-0 at the break.

U15s Newcastle Olympic take on Lambton Jaffas on Wednesday night at Darling St Oval as part of the Round 2 washed out fixture!

After travelling to Taree and Edgeworth in Round 1 and Round 3 and collecting maximum points, George Fella’s boys face Lambton Jaffas at 7:40pm at Darling St Oval.

The Jaffas team will have a lot of familiar faces from last year’s Adamstown Rosebud team but this will not worry the boys in blue.

The Newcastle Olympic U15s have won every NPL competition game since 24th August 2019!

Earlier on the same night U14s Newcastle Olympic take on their counter parts from Lambton Jaffas at 6:00pm.

NPL Youth: U15s Newcastle Olympic come away with the 3 points from Edgeworth Eagles

Koby Jackson scoring his first goal for Newcastle Olympic

Last year’s Premiers and Grand Finalists were the only Newcastle Olympic youth team to return from Edgeworth Eagles with three points!

The team which won every game in last year’s competition began with an early goal by River Peterson and within 10 minutes were 2-0 up with a thunderbolt from distance by Koby Jackson.

In what was a physical game under warm conditions U15s kept Edgeworth at bay for the duration of the half.

With intelligent rotation of players throughout the second half by coaching staff George Fellas and Eddie Abramovich, Olympic scored a third goal through a solo effort by wizard forward Seth Anderson.

This gives U15s two wins from two matches in the 2021 competition.

Earlier in the day U13s succumbed to a strong Edgeworth side by 5-1 while our U14s were surprisingly beaten 3-1! The day was finished by a 4-3 loss by our U16s despite them being 3-2 in the lead until late into the game!
