U16s Newcastle Jets are away to Bonnyrigg White Eagles this Sunday in Round 5 of the 2022 season.
Having won their first four matches, the Newcastle Jets sit in first place on the ladder with 12 points while Bonnyrigg are in 11th spot with 3 points and a game in hand. Despite this position on the table, Bonnyrigg is a quality team and will probably test the Jet’s 100% record like no other team so far.
Due to the great display and results by our remaining teams against Parramatta last week, the Newcastle Jets are also in first place on the ladder for the Club Championships.
Round 5: Newcastle Jets are away to Bonnyrigg White Eagles on Sunday 20th March at Bonnyrigg Sports Club Main.
U16s Newcastle Jets made it 4 wins from four matches in the 2022 FNSW Boy’s Youth League 2 after defeated Parramatta FC 2-0 at the LMRFF Speers Point on Sunday.
The Newcastle Jets goalkeeper was tested once in the first half and saw a shot on goal go over the crossbar in the second half! This was the total threat to the Newcastle goal throughout the match.
Despite this, the Parramatta FC team put up a fight in the middle of the park and were not prepared to allow the Newcastle team to overrun them. They contested every ball and ensured the Jets had to work for their win.
The first goal came in the first half where a shot from outside the box was too powerful for the goalkeeper to keep out, despite getting a hand to it. The second goal came midway through the second half from a well taken corner kick and a defender heading the ball into his own net.
The win leaves the u16s Newcastle Jets in first place on maximum points from four games, having scored 8 goals and not conceding any! This a great start to the season considering the squad boasts no fewer than 8 players who played in the NNSW NPL in 2021!
There is surely room for improvement but a great start, nevertheless.
Our next opponent in Round 5 of the competition is Bonnyrigg White Eagles in Sydney next Sunday.

U16s Newcastle Jets made it 3 wins from three matches in Round 3 of the FNSW Boy’s League Two!
Playing in wet and humid conditions at Christie Park, North Sydney, the Newcastle team had its work cut out from the outset. NWS Spirit played open attacking football and were physically, a very strong team. The entire first half was an arm wrestle by two teams eager for the 3 points.
Half time found both teams locked at 0-0 and the arm wrestle continued for another 20 minutes into the second half. At this point the NWS Spirit side showed a 5 minute lapse in intensity that enabled the Newcastle Jets to score two goals and put the game beyond reach. Both goals were scored 1 minute apart which broke the heart of the local side in what was a fiercely contested game.
NWS Spirit threw all their weight in attack leaving gaps at the back which the Jets were able to punish with a third goal which the referee ruled out as offside! Interesting to note, the linesman who was closer to the action did not raise his flag for offside!
The local team continued to attack in search of a goal and the Newcastle Jets continued to counter-attack. On one such occasion a Sydney defender, unable to get back in time, tackled a Jets player from behind and was given a straight red!
The Newcastle team then focused on retaining possession until the end of the match. This third win in as many matches places the u16s Newcastle Jets team in first place with 6 goals scored and not having conceded any!

NWS Spirit vs Newcastle Jets at Christie Park, Sydney on Saturday 5th March 2022
U16s Newcastle Jets made it two wins from two outings against Bankstown United on Sunday at LMRFF in their first home game of the season. It wasn’t pretty but it was a win!
Playing in warm and humid conditions the Jets began well maintaining possession, keeping the opposition away from their goal and probing the Bankstown goal with through balls and set pieces. Despite enjoying more possession, they lacked composure and were rushing their game instead of the free-flowing passing we are used to seeing. Just before half-time they opened the score with a header from a well taken corner kick.
The Jets continued to dominate possession in the second half but again could not break down their opponent who was reduced to long range shots. The game finished 1-0 to the Jets who recorded their second victory from as many matches. While the frustration at the Jets not being able to play their free-flowing passing game is understandable some credit must also go to the players of Bankstown United who fought all game to ensure this didn’t happen.

Newcastle Jets welcome Bankstown United at the LMRFF in Round 2 of the FNSW Boys’ Youth League 2, on Sunday 27th February 2022.
With three victories and two losses from last week’s Round 1 fixtures at Rydalmere Lions in Sydney, the Jets are keen to put on a great show in their first home game of the season. Their opponents Bankstown United failed to win a single game in all five age groups in their Round 1 clash with Bonnyrigg White Eagles – U18s 5-0 win to Bonnyrigg, U16s 1-0 win to Bonnyrigg, U15s 0-0 draw, U14s 2-2 draw, U13s 4-2 win to Bonnyrigg!
With the Jets wanting to impress by playing on home soil for the first time this year and Bankstown needing to wash their hands from their Round 1 results, the clash between the two clubs promises to be an interesting one.
Round 2 FNSW Boys’ Youth League2:
Newcastle Jets vs Bankstown United at LMRFF Speers Point on Sunday 27th February 2022
Playing in Round 1 of the FNSW Boys’ League 2 competition for the 2022 season, U16s Newcastle Jets proved too strong for their counter-parts from Rydalmere Lions.
In cool conditions at Rydalmere Park Main, both teams began the match at a very quick pace, giving spectators the impression they would be in for a good exhibition of football. The Newcastle Jets scored two goals early on and were able to dictate the tempo of the match in the first part of the half.
As the game wore on, possession evened out but with the Sydney team rarely threatening the Jets goal.
With the commencement of the second half, the Newcastle team enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, leaving the Sydney siders to merely chasing shadows! Despite the huge amount of possession, the third goal didn’t come but Rydalmere were kept at bay, rarely threatening the Newcastle goal.
In the later stages of the game, Newcastle Jets won a free kick on the edge of the box which they converted in the third goal which ensured the first win of the season. In the remaining time, the Jets kept possession, eliminating the possibility of any threat of a come-back by the local team.
Not only was this a great result for the Newcastle team but a great performance too, especially in the second half. Considering the squad boasted seven players making their debut in a formal game with Jets colours, both players and coaching staff should be commended.
