Terrain Earthworks and Demolition

Matthew Hawke founder and director of Terrain Earthworks and Demolition has a passion for all things earthy.

Matthew’s inherent love for organic materials and timber began as a young boy where he worked alongside his grandfather building various backyard projects. After leaving school he embarked on a career as a Shipwright, completing Certificate III in Ship and Boat Building at Tighes Hill TAFE. He was awarded the Boating Industry Association Award for the highest average mark on completion of Cert III, the Bruce Steber Award for Excellence, the Hunter Region Apprentice of the Year, and Runner Up in the TAFE Medal. Once qualified, Matthew travelled extensively in the UK and Europe, gaining experience in boat building in the south of France and the UK, and also in the building industry.

Upon his return to Australia he moved into Industrial Management. His 10 years in the field allowed him to hone and refine his ability to relate to people, problem solve, be diplomatic and think on his feet.

He completed several more qualifications during this time including:
• Diploma in Frontline Management
• Diploma in Project Management
• Diploma in Business Management
• Certificate III in Workplace Training and Assessment

Terrain Earthworks and Demolition was born from Matthew’s desire to live his passions and combine his diverse skillset and abilities with his interests: a love for the environment, sustainability and being outdoors, enthusiasm for operating big machines, and a desire to create aesthetically pleasing spaces whilst helping people solve a problem.
