After two washout matches the u16s Newcastle Jets return to action this Sunday at Speers Point against lowly placed St George City FA. The result in Sydney earlier in the year was an emphatic 5-1 mauling by the Jets who remain in 1^st place on the ladder. St George are in 13^th spot having lost 12 games and scored only 17 goals all season! Despite this, the Newcastle Jets have not played a game in over two weeks! Also, a cloud has emerged with how many players will be forced to play up on the weekend in higher age groups to cover absences. Although on paper the Jets appear to be clear favourites, it could be an interesting afternoon when considering the other two factors.

U18s Newcastle Jets will have their work cut out on Sunday as they will be facing a St George City FA outfit who as a result of playing two more games than the Jets, are in 1^st place on the ladder on 41 points! If the Jets win their two games in hand, they can come to within a point of St George and if they win on Sunday, they will reclaim their position on the throne of the u18s table. Earlier in the year the u18s Jets came away with a 3-1 victory in Sydney. Again, the inactivity for two weeks plus the possibility of U18s Jets players being required to play up in older age groups could compromise their chances for the 3 points.

U15s Newcastle Jets also have their work cut out for them on Sunday afternoon at Speers Point. Beaten 1-0 in the last minute of the game in Sydney by their rivals earlier in the year, the Jets are in 2^nd spot 11 points behind St George City who are 1^st. With a win in the two games in hand and on Sunday, u15s could come as close as 2 points from first spot! Plenty to play for but as with all the other Jets teams, the inactivity over the past two weeks as well as the possibility of players having to play up, makes this game very difficult.

U14s Newcastle Jets are in 7^th place on the ladder and need revenge for their 3-0 loss in Sydney earlier this year! With wins in their two games in hand plus a win on Sunday, they could come within 4 points of the league leaders. Plenty to play for but again the two week inactivity and the possibility of players having to play up could affect their chances.

U13s Newcastle Jets are in 3^rd spot with 3 games in hand from league leaders NWS Spirit who are only 5 points in front. A win by the u13s on Sunday will bring them to within 2 points and with 3 games in hand, they will be able to reclaim their throne in 1^st spot.

In the Club Championship, the Newcastle Jets have slipped into 3^rd spot because of the 12 games missed over the past two weeks due to wash-outs. Only two teams get promoted into FNSW Boys’ Youth League One and there are three candidates all year, St George City FA, Hills United and Newcastle Jets. Wins against our rivals this weekend will not only help individual teams in their respective age group table but also assist the Club collectively in cementing one of the two positions that lead to promotion.

Newcastle Jets Academy players were informed on Friday afternoon that their Round 21 fixture on Saturday with Nepean FC at Cook Park (St Marys) Sydney has been called off due to the pitch being waterlogged due to the recent heavy rain in the area.

This is the 3^rd rescheduled match of the season after Round 11 against Prospect United SC, and Round 20 against Bonnyrigg White Eagles last week.

Round 21 of the competition has the U16s Newcastle Jets travelling away to Nepean FC in the Battle of 1^st against 3^rd. After washed out games last week for both teams, the Jets remain in first spot, 1 point ahead of Hills United while Nepean FC have slipped in third spot, 5 points behind the Jets and 4 behind Hills United! These three teams have monopolised the first three positions on the ladder since Round 1.

The Jets defeated Nepean 4-1 in the first fixture at Speers Point and a win in this match will put them 8 points ahead of their rival. Keeping in mind two wash out games against lowly placed Prospect United (13^th ) and Bonnyrigg (16^th ), the Jets will only have Hills United as their closest rival for the Premiership and they also play this team on the last game of the season at Speers Point!

This is a must win game and the U16s Jets have no reason to doubt their ability to return with the 3 points from this game. Their biggest opponent will be the weather and the possibility of yet another washed out fixture, given that Nepean FC play on a grass field.

U18s Newcastle Jets are in 4^th spot on the ladder, a mere 4 points behind the league leaders St George City FA. Nepean FC are in 13^th position having only won 6 games from 18 outings! The Jets are clearly favourites to return with the 3 points and keep the pressure on the top of the table.

U15s Newcastle Jets are in 2^nd spot on 37 points but 8 points behind league leaders St George City FA! Nepean in 15^th and has only won 2 matches all season. Again the Jets are favourites to return with the 3 points.

U14s Newcastle Jets are in 7^th spot on the ladder while Nepean FC in 14^th ! This is another game that the Newcastle team should win, a victory which will help them edge further up the ladder in these final 10 games of the season.

U13s Newcastle Jets have slipped to 3^rd spot, 5 points behind league leaders NWS Spirit who have played two matches more than the Newcastle team! Nepean is in 15^th place having won only one game all season and conceded 74 goals! An easy 3 points for another Newcastle Jets team.

Newcastle Jets Academy players (male) were informed on Thursday morning that their Round 20 scheduled match on Sunday with Bonnyrigg White Eagles on the synthetic of LMRFF at Speers Point had been transferred to the grass pitch due to a clash with Emerging Jets girls and due to the anticipated wet weather, the game is called off. The match according to the Football NSW website will rescheduled to a later date, to be determined.

This will be the second rescheduled match of the season for the Jets Academy teams! The first was Round 11 against Prospect United SC at William Lawson Reserve, Sydney. Despite Round 11 being played on 1^st May, 3 months ago, the washed-out fixture has yet to be played, nor has a date been set for the game!

U16s Newcastle Jets were too strong for Parramatta FC at Melita Stadium in Sydney on Sunday afternoon. Despite playing on a poor surface not conducive to the free-flowing passing game of the Jets, Parramatta were unable to curb the appetite of their Novocastrian visitors who ran out winners by 4-1.

Training and playing on synthetic surfaces all season, the Newcastle Jets would understandably have needed some time to get the weighting of their passes correct on the grass surface of Melita Stadium. Given the poor quality of the surface however, the Newcastle players had the additional problem of the ball being bumpy and thereby preventing them from demonstrating their free-flowing passing game.

Despite this, they were able to take the lead by 2-0 before being pegged back to 2-1 just before half time! In the second half the Newcastle team demonstrated more composure on the ball and dominated possession and goal scoring opportunities. Another 2 goals were added for an emphatic final 4-1 score line!

This win enables the U16s Newcastle Jets to retain their 4 point lead at the top after narrow victories by both Nepean FC and Hills United on the previous day!

The clean sweep of 5 victories in all five age groups also assisted the Newcastle Jets to retain their first spot on the Club Championship points table.

U16s Newcastle Jets are away to Parramatta FC on Sunday at Melita Stadium in Sydney. On paper they are favourites to collect the 3 points as the local team are in 10^th spot having scored a mere 17 goals in 17 matches. The Jets won the first fixture in Newcastle by 2-0. Parramatta usually like to play compact and the test for the Jets will be finding a way to break them down. In first place and with the best attack and best defense in the league, if there is one team that should be able to crack their defense open, it’s the Jets! It’s a game that the Jets should win but they will have to work for it.

U18s Newcastle Jets should also return from Melita stadium with the 3 points as the local team are 2^nd last on the table and also because they need to redeem themselves from three defeats in their past 5 matches! This is a must win for the Jets to regain a little lost confidence and in order to keep within close distance to the league leaders, St George City FA.

U15s Newcastle Jets should come away with 3 points given that Parramatta are last on the points table and with only 2 wins in 16 matches. The U15s have had some difficult weeks with many of their players unavailable due to the flu. Hopefully all these problems have been resolved and they will be able to notch another victory and get closer to league leaders St George City FA.

U14s Newcastle Jets also look favourites to come away with 3 points from an opponent who is 2^nd last on the points ladder! Parramatta have only won 4 matches all season and have scored a mere 15 goals in 17 games! It will be a compact game from the locals and the Jets will need to find ways of breaking them down if they want to collect the 3 points.

U13s Newcastle Jets should come away with all 3 points against a team which has not won a single game all season and has scored only 8 goals in 17 matches! The difference in ability between the two teams is huge and the Jets should return victorious to make up for their shock loss to NWS Spirit last week!

In what can be described as an exhibition of strength, U16s Newcastle Jets defeated NWS Spirit 4-1 on Sunday afternoon at Speers Point to go 4 points clear on the points table after Round 18 of the competition! Scoring first through a well worked combination and a deflection off an attempted block by a Jets defender, the Sydney siders were all smiles amidst the cheers from their supporters at the LMRFF! By half time the smiles were all but gone as the Jets put 3 goals away and looked very dominant.

In the second half the Newcastle team added a further goal to their tally but should have scored at least 3-4 more! In the last 10 minutes the Jets midfield was so dominant that it was enabling it’s attack to sport with the Sydney defense! Newcastle players were taking 3-4 strikes at the NWS goal before the Sydney defense could repel each attack! This was in stark contrast to the Rydalmere game which cost us 3 points due to our inability to crack open the opposition defense!

U16s Newcastle Jets will be seeking to distance themselves further from Nepean FC and Hills United who play each other this weekend, by defeating NWS Spirit on Sunday. The Jets beat their opponents in Sydney 2-0 early in the season but they were a formitable force then, and they are an even tougher opponent now! For the record, the Spirit are in 7^th spot on the table with 8 wins and 6 losses but on their day, they can beat any team. The Jets who are in 1^st place will need to be on their game for the duration of the match!

U18s Newcastle Jets share 1^st place on the ladder with St George City FA and in 3^rd spot, just 2 points behind, are NWS Spirit! This is another big clash by two teams very similar in strength. Both have lost 5 matches but the Jets have won 10 to Spirit’s 9. This game is so evenly matched that minor details will probably decide the victor.

U15s Newcastle Jets have slipped into 3^rd spot and need to play consistently well throughout the game if they are to collect the 3 points against 7^th placed NWS Spirit. The Jets have won 3 more games but the Spirit have only lost 4 to the Jet’s 5! The one advantage the Jets have is in attack. They have scored 47 goals to Spirit’s 27 while they both have conceded 20. Will the Jet’s firepower be enough to bring home the 3 points?

U14s Jets and Spirit are in 6^th and 7^th spot on equal points! There is very little separating these teams. Spirit have won four of their last five games while the Jets only two! Again a very tough match and one which will probably be decided on minor details.

U13s are flying high in 1^st spot followed by NWS Spirit 4 points behind. Another great battle between the two leading teams in the age group. The Jets have won four of their last five outings while the Spirit only three! Again, very little separates the two teams and this will be a thrilling match.

In icy conditions at Jenson Park Sydney, U16s Newcastle Jets proved too strong for Bankstown United FC on Saturday afternoon. Straight from kick off the Newcastle team were awarded a penalty when the Sydney goalkeeper tripped a Newcastle player inside the box! Despite awarding the penalty which was easily converted into a goal, the goalkeeper received neither a red or even a yellow card!

The Jets controlled possession throughout the half and had another goal scored from a well taken corner but the referee decided that the Bankstown goalkeeper was fouled, despite video footage showing he mishandled the ball and was not touched by any Newcastle player!

The second half proved more balanced with the local team being more adventurous in the middle of the field but lacking the final touch. As the game wore on, Bankstown attacked the Newcastle goal in the hope of pinching a draw while the Jets threatened with a second goal through quick counter attacks.

The game finished in a similar way to how it started with the Jets scoring in the final minute after catching the Sydney siders on the break!

This was a great result considering the number of players unavailable through sickness, suspension or playing up in the U18s. It also places U16s Newcastle Jets in 1^st place on the points table with the best attack and the best defense of the competition!

After suffering their first defeat of the season last week, U16s Newcastle Jets are on the road this weekend against 6^th placed Bankstown United FC. For the first time this season the Jets have slipped into 2^nd spot after Nepean’s 4-1 win over Hills United in a washed out midweek fixture! Bankstown are goal shy, having scored just 20 goals this season to the Jet’s 42 but are very compact at the back. Both teams have conceded the same number of goals 12! It looks like another game during which the Jets will be called upon to unlock a tight defense.

U18s Newcastle Jets sit in 2^nd place, 3 points behind league leaders St George City FA, while Bankstown are in last place with one win and two draws all season. The Newcastle team are obviously favourites to collect the 3 points.

U15s Newcastle Jets are also in 2^nd spot, 2 points behind league leaders St George City FA, while Bankstown sit in 11^th place with just 4 wins all season. As with their u16s counter parts, the U15s Bankstown team are goal shy, having scored 18 goals to Newcastle’s 45! They are compact in defense and the Jets will be called upon to unlock this to come away with the 3 points.

U14s Jets will have their hands full against a Bankstown team in 2^nd spot, 12 points in front of the sixth placed Newcastle team. Although the Bankstown team have only lost once all season, they have only scored 26 goals but they are very tight at the back, 11 goals conceded. This will be another close arm wrestle.

U13s Newcastle Jets are flying high in 1^st spot, 4 points ahead of their nearest rival, while Bankstown sit in 5^th spot 11 points behind. The strength of the Newcastle team is it’s attack with 66 goals scored while Bankstown have leaked 30! The Jets are favourites to come away with the 3 points.

In the Club Championship, the Newcastle Jets have slipped in 3rd spot after last week’s disastrous weekend and a combination of mid-week games. Despite this there are another 14 games to be played and plenty of time to repair the damage. It’s very clear that the first three spots will be contested by Hills United FC, St George City FA and Newcastle Jets.
