Following the gutsy 2-2 draw from their A-League counter parts last night it is hoped that all four teams playing today will provide a good account of themselves.

The u16s squad included four new recruits from NNSW NPL as well as players from the U15s squad. The WPL A-League fielded top scorer of the NNSW WPL for 2021, Jemma House, as well as Matilda Emily Van Egmond!

The match was a competitive affair with players from both teams able to put minutes on the clock for their pre-season programme while coaches of both teams had the opportunity to gauge their players under match conditions.

U16s led 2-1 at the break but ran out eventual winners by 3-1 after scoring an own goal and missing a penalty.

U16’s next opponent is Sydney FC on the 5th December in Sydney.

2021 NPL season called off: U15s Newcastle Olympic 2021 NNSW Premiers

U15s Newcastle Olympic 2021 NNSW NPL Premiers 01 (2)

Northern NSW Football has announced the end of its 2021 Premier Competitions.

With the NSW government continuing COVID-19 restrictions across the Hunter and no guaranteed safe return to football, NNSWF were left with no choice but to call full-time on all 2021 Premier Competitions.

This includes National Premier Leagues NNSW, Herald Women’s Premier League and HIT 106.9 Northern League One senior and youth competitions as well as Junior Development League (JDL) and Premier Youth Cup.

Northern NSW Football General Manager Football Operations Liam Bentley said the decision had been made in full consultation with, and agreement from, all Premier clubs and competition standing committees.

“We have been committed to trying to get back on the pitch and our team at NNSWF have put in a lot of time and effort in working on contingency plans,” Bentley said.

“But our planned scenarios and contingencies are no longer workable based on the new state government timelines around restrictions.

“I’d like to pass our genuine thanks to all of our clubs for their hard work in season 2021, especially after backing up from the extended 2020 season. It has been a tough couple of years to run a football club and we are extremely thankful to them for guiding their clubs through these extremely challenging times.”

Premier Competitions leagues will be finalised on a points per game basis given the large majority of matches were completed. As the season has concluded there will be no finals series for any Premier Competitions.

Premiers in all divisions will be awarded on this basis and will be acknowledged over the coming weeks. Medals and trophies will be distributed when it is safe and permissible to do so under the Public Health Order.

NPL Standing Committee Chair and Lambton Jaffas president Scott Douglas said clubs fully respected and supported the decision to end 2021 Premier Competitions seasons.

“The process from NNSWF has been excellent. They’ve given us every opportunity to get back on the park and clubs were fully supportive of that,” Douglas said.

“However the reality is that restrictions are likely to extend into October and November before you’re even contemplating getting back on the park. At the start of the lockdown in August clubs were optimistic but as each week has gone by it makes it more and more difficult to prepare for a return.

“To provide everyone an element of certainty in an uncertain environment it is the right choice, as disappointing as that may be. It allows clubs to start moving forward and plan for next season. And obviously there are bigger issues than football currently as well.”

Northern NSW Football CEO David Eland paid tribute to the football community following a difficult year but remained optimistic for a successful 2022 season.

“I want to thank the entire football community including players, coaches, volunteers and match officials for their contribution to the season as well as their understanding and resilience during this difficult time,” Eland said.

“It is a disappointing way to end any season but I can assure the football community we will be back bigger and better than ever in 2022. So until then stay safe and we’ll see you back on the pitch soon.”

NPL Youth: Newcastle Olympic travel to Lake Macquarie for two Premiership trophies

01

Round 20 of the NPL Youth competition has Newcastle Olympic away to Lake Macquarie City. A win by our teams in the u14s and 15s will bring home the 2021 Premiership of each respective age group.

Newcastle Olympic U13s have had an incredible run in the later part of the season and sit in 5th spot 5 points out of the top 4. They will need wins in all three of their remaining games (Lake Macquarie, North Coast & Weston), to keep their hopes of making the top 4.

Newcastle Olympic U14s and U15s require a win on the weekend to bring home the 2021 U14s and U15s Premiership titles to Darling St Oval. Providing they play to their strengths, this should be achieved.

Newcastle Olympic U16s have a bye as the U16s Lake Macquarie team has withdrawn from the competition. Two wins in their final two games against North Coast and Weston will ensure they capture 2nd or 3rd spot on the points table and a place in the semi-finals.

NPL Youth: Newcastle Olympic are away to Broadmeadow Magic

01 (2)

As we turn the final corner of another season, Round 19 of the 2021 NPL competition presents Newcastle Olympic with the opportunity of collecting it’s first Premiership trophy!

In U13s Newcastle Olympic faces a tough assignment as the Broadmeadow team is on maximum points and on Tuesday night secured the U13s NNSW NPL Premiership. We are 2 points off the top four and the boys need to work very hard to keep their hopes for a top 4 finish.

In U14s Newcastle Olympic are 7 points clear at the top while the Broadmeadow team is fighting for a place in the top 4. It will be a tough game and one we need to win in order to get closer to winning the Premiership.

In U15s Newcastle Olympic need 3 points to collect the Premiership for the 2nd year in a row! A win against the Broadmeadow team however will diminish their possibility of a top 4 place! This match has so much at stake for both teams and has the makings of “the battle of all battles”!

In U16s Newcastle Olympic are in 3rd spot, 4 points adrift from 2nd which is occupied by the Broadmeadow Magic team. Another epic battle by two evenly matched opponents!

NPL Youth: Newcastle Olympic youth take on Adamstown Rosebud in final game at Darling St Oval

02

Newcastle Olympic youth teams take on Adamstown Rosebud this Saturday in their final game of the 2021 NPL season at Darling St Oval! Our supporters will have an opportunity to watch the last game on home soil for all four teams! All four are top 4 contenders and will be fighting for a place in the semi-finals while two are favorite to win the Premiership.

Newcastle Olympic u13s are just 2 points off 4th spot on the ladder and should collect the 3 points against an Adamstown team which has yet to register a single point this season! U14s continue in 1st spot, 2 points ahead and with a game in hand and should also collect the 3 points against an Adamstown team 10th on the ladder.

Newcastle Olympic U15s continue their record breaking run (1 loss in two seasons), with a 10 point lead in 1st spot against an Adamstown side who would love to cause an upset. If Olympic win this game, they only require 3 points in the remaining 4 matches to collect the title, yet again!

Newcastle Olympic U16s have secured a top 4 spot but will want to play well against a 6th placed Adamstown team if they want to secure 2nd place.

This is the last opportunity for our supporters to see all four of our youth teams in action at Darling St Oval this season as well as enjoy the wonderful food from our canteen!

NPL Youth: Newcastle Olympic are away to Charlestown Azzuri

176529950_1578788205653744_8399617222095910339_n

NPL Youth action resumes this weekend after the “wash-out” catch up round of last week. Newcastle Olympic are away to Charlestown Azzuri with some interesting games indeed!

Olympic U13s have captured 4th spot on the ladder and need the three points from 3rd placed Azzuri to frog leap them into 3rd as well as distance themselves from Edgeworth and Maitland who are fighting for a place in the top four.

Olympic U14s should not have a problem overcoming their Azzuri counter parts on paper. They need the 3 points as 2nd placed Edgeworth play two games on the weekend and mathematically can capture 1st spot on the points table if they win both.

Olympic U15s are recovering from their first loss of competition points last week since August 2019! Given that Charlestown also come from an away loss, we have the ingredients of a great battle for the 3 points.

Olympic U16s should prove too strong for their Azzuri counter parts and need the 3 points to improve their 4th position on the points table. A mere 4 points separates them from 2nd spot.
