Newcastle Olympic take on New Lambton at the LMRFF

Newcastle Olympic take on New Lambton in Round 21 of the Northern NSW NPL at the same venue and at the same time as Maitland take on Belmont Swansea United FC. Reserve Grade will be contesting this fixture on the 12th August!

Newcastle Olympic are in 6th place on the ladder, 3 points behind Maitland who are in 5th position! Olympic play a New Lambton team which has won one game all season, are bottom of the table and who are favourites to be demoted. They have conceded 51 goals and only scored 19! On paper Olympic are favourites to collect the 3 points but this doesn’t always work out this way. They were also favourites in Round 10 of the competition but this didn’t stop New Lambton from securing a 2-2 draw at Darling St Oval! The game is held at the LMRFF because of the torrential rain the Hunter Valley has experienced in the past week and the prediction for Saturday is more rain.

Fifth position on the ladder is all Olympic can hope for in the three remaining games of the season. On Wednesday we travel to Weston and the following Sunday we play our last match at Belmont Swansea.

Maitland will be playing Belmont Swansea on the Synthetic field No2 at the LMRFF and although they are much stronger than their opponents, the need to avoid getting too close to the relegation zone by the later might cause a surprise result!

Newcastle Olympic play their last card on Saturday if they are to make the top 5.

Kick off at 4:00pm at LMRFF at Speers Point on Saturday 2nd August 2025.
